Just moments ago, Samsung kicked off its Unpacked event in San Francisco and marked the official arrival of its new Galaxy S23 Series. As per its predecessor, leading the new Galaxy S Series for 2023 is the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Being the largest model in the family, the IP68-certified Galaxy S23 Ultra has been equipped with a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 which Samsung has also used for the phone’s back area. With a native QHD+ resolution and support for S Pen that has been embedded into the phone, the screen also once again features dynamic refresh rate capability with a range of between 1Hz to 120Hz.

Running on the customised Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, Samsung claimed that the chip is the fastest Snapdragon to date and it is being cooled by a vapour chamber that is much larger than the one in Galaxy S22 Ultra. The company has also provided 12GB of RAM across all variants of Galaxy S23 Ultra and the phone has also been pre-installed with One UI 5.1 on top of its Android 13 operating system.

One of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s main highlights is the new 200MP Adaptive Pixel sensor in the phone’s main camera. Paired with an f/1.7 lens, the sensor’s pixel binning capability offers three levels of output options including the full-blown 200MP as well as 50MP and 12MP.

Aside from that, the rear camera module also features a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and two 10MP telephoto cameras that can deliver between 3x to 10x optical zoom alongside up to 100x digital zoom. Samsung also noted that the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera comes with doubled optical image stabilizer and 8K video recording capability.

For selfies, the Galaxy S23 Ultra relies on a 12MP f/2.2 camera which is also inclusive of autofocus and Super HDR capabilities. On top of that, users are also able to record videos through the selfie camera at 60fps.

Rounding up the phone’s general specification is a 5000mAh battery. Samsung claimed that it takes only 30 minutes of charging time to get up to 65% of the battery capacity when charged using a 45W adapter although the charger does not come as standard and has to be purchased separately.

In Malaysia, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can be obtained in three different configurations including the 256GB model which costs RM5,699. There is also the 512GB option which costs RM6,199 and for those who need to carry everything with them, there is always the 1TB model that carries a price tag of RM7,199.
