Redmagic Malaysia, via its official social media channels on Facebook and Instagram, has released a teaser for an upcoming product launch that is set to take place next week. This also happens to be the brand’s first ever product launch on our shores, though it had already released several of its devices locally prior to this, but with little to no fanfare.

As expected, the teaser did not mention which of Redmagic’s products is expected to arrive. However, there’s a huge possibility that it may launch the new Redmagic 7S line-up, which initially debuted for the Chinese and global markets back in July this year. To recap, the series consists of two devices, namely the standard variant and the top-end Pro variant.

Both Redmagic 7S smartphones differ from one another in terms of rear panel design, camera arrangement, memory configurations, and internal cooling. In regards to the latter, the regular model packs a nine-layer cooling system, whereas the Pro variant is equipped with a 10-layer system instead. Both of which are accompanied by a 20,000 rpm fan.

Since we’re talking about its internal hardware, featured on both variants is the 5G-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship chipset. As for memory configurations, the vanilla 7S comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, whereas the Redmagic 7S Pro is equipped with up to a whopping 18 GB RAM and an equally impressive 1TB of storage. Connectivity-wise, both devices support Wi-Fi 6, 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, and are equipped with 3.5mm headphone jacks.

Powering the standard model is a 4,500 mAh battery with 120 W charging support, whereas the Pro model features a bigger 5,000 mAh battery with an even faster 135 W charging speed. Based on the global launch, Redmagic is also including either models with a 165 W GaN charger.

Despite featuring differing aesthetics, the Redmagic 7S duo sports the same 6.8-inch AMOLED display with an under-display camera. It is worth noting that the standard model features an impressive 165 Hz refresh rate, while the Pro packs 120 Hz instead. Additionally, the two also come with shoulder triggers and a red physical switch on the side for activating their built-in cooling system.

AS for imaging, both variants feature the same triple-camera configuration on their backs, which consists of a 64 MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. In front, the standard 7S gets an 8MP sensor for its under-display camera, while the Pro gets a larger 16MP sensor instead.

We’ll only know for sure whether or not Redmagic is actually launching the 7S series in Malaysia next week. That being said, the launch is slated to take place on Tuesday, 18 October 2022 at 2pm. Unfortunately, it is still unclear if the event is held virtually or physically, though expect more details to be announced by the brand soon.
