Over the weekend, rumours revolving around NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series picked up in frequency, with the majority of these whispers originating from a single source. That same source, by the way, is now saying that the TDP of the GeForce RTX 4080 will be 100W higher than the RTX 3080 at 420W.

The rumour, by the way, was first posted by the prominent leakster kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi), who also posted the rumour about the RTX 4060 and how that mid-range GPU would also ship out with a higher TDP than the RTX 3070. As per their posts, the word on the internet is that the RTX 4080 is expected to pull 420W off the wall and that it will be fitted with AD103 GPU. Again, that’s a full 100W more than the RTX 3080: the GPU has a TDP of 320W, while the RTX 3080 Ti’s TDP is rated at 350W.

Kopite7kimi’s latest tweet also confirms that the RTX 4080’s model name is also called the PG139-SKU360, a name that was initially only mentioned in earlier rumours. On top of that, they also say that the RTX 4090, whose performance still remains a mystery, shares the same PG139 but has the code SKU330 instead to denote its enthusiast class in the hierarchy.

In fact, we got some information about:
The TGP of RTX 4090 is still a mystery. PG139-SKU330 still has the opportunity to achieve 600W.
Possible RTX 4080, PG139-SKU360 has the opportunity of 450W TGP.
If RTX 4070 uses GDDR6X instead, it has opportunity to reach 400W TGP.

Beyond that, there’s not a whole lot of information about the RTX 4080, but again, this news more or less confirms that NVIDIA’s intends on making its next generation of graphics card more power-hungry than the last, which in turns suggests that the cards will undoubtedly be more powerful in its performance as well.

One other piece of information about the RTX 4080 that has been spreading around is the launch date of the GPU. While initially expected to launch in August this year, it is now believed that NVIDIA plans to launch the card in the month of November, with the RTX 4090 launching a full month before then. Meanwhile, the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 are rumoured to launch in the month of December 2022 and January 2023, respectively, the latter being the month when CES kicks off.
