Apple earlier this week has announced a free service program throughout the world for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro that is experiencing a very particular sound issue. This is apparently the first time such a program has been implemented for the iPhone 12 family although interesting enough, this issue does not affect iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
According to the notice on Apple’s support site, the receiver on the affected units would not emit a sound when users make or receive calls. The company pinpoints the cause of this issue to an unnamed component on the receiver module.
Apple further said that only “a very small percentage” of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro may be affected by the no sound issue. The company also revealed that the affected units were produced between October 2020 to April 2021.
As mentioned earlier, Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) across the world including Malaysia would repair this issue for free. That being said, Apple has noted that users must first resolve any damages that could hinder the repair job which could come at an extra cost.
