Xiaomi May Launch Phone With Under Display Camera This Year

It has been just over two years since Xiaomi first showed off its own take on the under-display camera. Then last year, the company showed off what it called the third generation of its under-display camera tech. And in the third quarter of this year, we may finally see it in a phone you can buy.

Chinese news site ITHome reports that Xiaomi is set to introduce this tech in as many as three different devices. They are the CC11, the Mi Mix 4, and the Mi Mix Fold 2. But beyond the phones having the under-display camera, the report is light on details as far as specs are concerned.

They won’t be showing up at the same time though. A tipster claims on Weibo that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will show up first, within the aforementioned third quarter. The Mi Mix Fold 2, on the other hand, will show up in the fourth quarter. No word on when the CC11 will be showing up. Though the tipster also claims that a Mi 12  will also be showing up in Q1 of next year.

The appearance of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 and Mi Mix Fold 2 will fall in line with the company’s previous claim of mass-producing phones with under-display camera tech in 2021. Though for the Mi Mix 4, it would be a new entry to a series which saw its last entry announced in 2019. The Mix Fold 2 on the other, will come less than a year after its predecessor.
