Maxis has released what it describes as a “shoppable” Raya film to anchor its collaborative campaign with Shopee to encourage support for local SMEs. During these challenging times, the telco’s message is that buying can be a form of giving; an act of kindness and generosity towards local businesses and business owners.

The ad, titled Raya Si Sakan, which can now be watched on YouTube, features product placements (food items, cosmetics, clothes) at certain intervals. It’s Maxis’ way of highlighting goods sold by certain traders and the online SME community as a whole.

Clicking on the “i” button in the upper right-hand corner of the video shows you the products that were highlighted, and clicking further redirects you to the official webpage of Maxis’ Raya campaign. From there, interested parties can be redirected to Shopee whether they can make their purchases.

“Bringing sellers and shoppers together in this digital space, we are encouraging people to support local businesses, while giving the latter the exposure they would not ordinarily get otherwise,” said Maxis Head of Brand and Marketing Tai Kam Leong.

Maxis also highlighted some of its efforts in helping the SME and micro-SME community. For example, through its recently launched eKelas Usahawan programme, it provides digital marketing workshops to female entrepreneurs in rural communities at no cost.
