Aside from the new iPad Pro, Apple has also announced another M1-powered product at its Spring Loaded event today in the form of an all-new iMac. As the in-house chip allows the company to utilise a smaller logic board, it subsequently led to a slimmer body design for the new model as well.

With a thickness of just 11.5mm, the new desktop machine can be obtained in seven different colourways including green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Aside from the new processor, the M1-based iMac also comes with a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display that has a maximum brightness level of 500 nits and True Tone technology.

Apple also said that it has fitted the new iMac with the 1080p FaceTime HD camera which the company claimed as the best camera in the entire Mac family. It also comes with a triple-microphone array that apparently has studio-quality output alongside a six-speaker sound system with two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and supports spatial audio for Dolby Atmos videos.

The new iMac also features a new power adaptor that has a built-in 1Gbps Ethernet port as well as a magnetic power connector with colour-matched woven cable. Apple also took the opportunity to introduce a new Magic Keyboard variant that has not only matching colourways but also a Touch ID sensor that also works with the Fast User Switching feature.

Just like the previously released M1-based MacBook Pro, the base price of the new iMac depends on the M1 variant that comes with it. The version with 7-core GPU and 256GB SSD starts at RM 5,599 while the model with 8-core GPU and 256GB SSD can be obtained from RM 6,449 onwards.

On another hand, the unit with 8-core GPU and 512GB SSD have a starting price of RM 7,249. Users can also choose to obtain the new iMac with up to 16GB of unified memory together with up to 1TB or 2TB SSD depending on the specific variant.

Even though its local pricing has been officially listed by Apple, the company has not yet revealed the actual release date for the new M1-based iMac in Malaysia. As always, we will keep you posted once we have further updates for you.
