Astro has revealed that it is now offering new customers pre-access to its Astro GO streaming service before the arrival of their decoders, completely free of charge. With MCO in effect across the nation, visits from the company’s technicians are susceptible to untimely delays, which would cause customers to wait longer for their Astro Box to be installed in their homes.
This move aims to remedy this issue by providing them with immediate access to its wide range of content via Astro GO on their mobile devices beforehand. In order to enjoy this, customers simply need to download the streaming service’s app onto their devices and sign-in using the email address they’ve registered upon subscribing to the company. Keep in mind that they may only access selected streaming content that is already part of their originally subscribed package.
Furthermore, each subscription is allowed to share Astro GO access across four devices, enabling customers and family members to enjoy their favourite content on the go at any time. Other benefits include a download feature for offline viewing, 200 hours of free cloud storage, and much more.
For those unfamiliar, the mobile streaming service offers top favourites including Premier League and Champions League football matches, Korean dramas, local and western TV shows, and on-demand exclusives such as Roald Dahl’s The Witches and Mother To Be. Parents may also utilise the service for their children’s home schooling during MCO with educational content such as TV Pendidikan and Astro Tutor TV.
Seeing that the company has already made Astro GO readily available to all existing subscribers for free, it would make sense for it to also be immediately available to new customers. Whether this decision is influenced by MCO or otherwise, it is still surprising that it took Astro this long to finally provide newcomers with pre-access since the streaming service’s launch (or relaunch, rather) back in 2017.
