Following the recent release of Swift 3X and Aspire 5 as the first batch of Acer laptops with 11th Gen Intel Core processors in Malaysia, the company has now expanded its Tiger Lake line-up by launching the latest iteration of Swift 5 and Swift 3 laptops.

For those who are not familiar with the Acer Swift family, it is generally the company’s de-factor consumer-level thin and light laptop series. The pricing class of each Swift laptop can generally be identified by its model number and in that sense, the Swift 5 and Swift 3 can be considered as the mid-range offerings of the series.

2020 Acer Swift 5.

Said to be one of the company’s best-selling model, the 2020 Swift 5 is equipped with 14-inch Full HD IPS touch display that is protected with Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. Also features maximum brightness level of 340nits and 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage, Acer claimed that it has made the bezels much slimmer and this allows the 2020 Swift 5 to have a 90% screen-to-body ratio.

With the help of its chassis which was made from a combination of magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminium, the 2020 Swift 5 weights at only 1.05kg and has a thickness of only 14.95mm. The laptop is also a certified Intel Evo model with up to 15 hours of battery life and can be obtained in Malaysia with up to Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor as well as 16GB RAM.

2020 Acer Swift 3.

As for the 2020 Swift 3, Acer is bringing over the 14-inch variant of the laptop into our market which also includes a Full HD IPS panel. Just like the higher-end Swift 5, the laptop can also be obtained with up to Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor and 16GB RAM although the Swift 3 has a much lower battery life rating at 11 hours.

That being said, users can still obtain up to 4 hours of video playback with just 30 minutes of charging time with the help of the laptop’s fast charge feature. Weighing at around 1.2kg with a thickness of 15.95mm, the Swift 3 also features a metal chassis although it was made from a different combination of materials which consisted of aluminium and magnesium-aluminium.

Regardless of the model you choose, the 2020 Swift 5 and Swift 3 come standard with 512GB PCIe NVMe solid state drive as well as the full version of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019. They are also protected by a 2-year local warranty from Acer Malaysia and 1-year international travellers warranty.

As noted in the specs sheet above, the 2020 Swift 5 has a starting price of RM 3999 while the 2020 Swift 3 is available from RM 3299 onwards. To see them up close, you can check out these new Swift laptops at Acer authorised resellers throughout the country as well as Acer Malaysia’s official online store.
