A few days after its Best of 2019 charts, Valve announced the winners of its 2019 Steam Awards. Like the previous chart, the list of winners for the Steam Awards consist of some obvious names, as well as a few that’s pretty far out of left field.
But let’s start with the obvious ones on the Steam Awards list. Steam users have voted Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as their Game of the Year. Not exactly surprising, as it topped multiple Best of 2019 charts, as well as taking the same title during The Game Awards 2019.
Other entries include Resident Evil 2 remake and Star Wars Jedi; Fallen Order. It’s also nice to see Devil May Cry 5 getting the recognition it deserves by being on this list. But at the same time, it’s odd to see Destiny 2 on this list. I guess you could argue that the game only became available on Steam last year, which allows it to qualify for the 2019 Steam Awards.
Beat Saber winning VR Game of the Year is also no surprise. It’s by far the most popular title, at least compared to the other names in its category. Then there’s Gris taking the title for most Outstanding Visual Style.
You can check out the rest of the categories, as well as their winners, on the 2019 Steam Awards page linked below. There are some other whacky titles there too, such as “Best Game You Suck At” and “Better With Friends”.
