Best known for their Mixed Martial Arts fighting competitions which have been held in several locations throughout Asia including Malaysia, the ONE Championship (ONE) is one of the largest sports event organizers in the region.

As those who have been following the esports scene closely will know, ONE has recently been expanding their operations in esports, with their first esports events being the ONE Street Fighter Tokyo Challenge and the ONE Tekken Tokyo Invitational.

After going from real-life fighting competitions to virtual fighting competitions, ONE is now making an even bigger jump by hosting the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational. Featuring 12 of the very best Dota 2 teams in the world, it has been deemed as a Premier Dota 2 competition due to its massive USD 500,000 (~RM 2.078 million) prize pool.

The official list of confirmed teams is as follows:

  • Alliance
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Gambit
  • J Storm
  • Natus Vincere
  • PSG.LGD (featuring Malaysian player, Jian Wei “xNova” Yap.)
  • Team Aster (featuring Malaysian player, Kee Chyuan “ChYuan” Ng.)
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Secret
  • TNC Predator
  • Virtus.pro
  • Vici Gaming

Taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the competition will begin on the 17 December with the closed-door group stages and playoffs. From there, it will then move to the main event which will be held from 20 to 22 December and is open to the public to spectate.

As expected from a competition that sells itself as a premier event, the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational will also feature renowned international Dota 2 personalities as part of the host and casting crew, including Sheever, TobiWan, BSJ, ODPixel, Fogged, Black^, Trent, and Capitalist.

Fans who do decide to make the trip over to Singapore will have the opportunity to participate in meet-and-greet sessions with some of the competing teams. Not only that, several well-known cosplayers such as Redemption Props, Vinca Kazuki and Darryl Izzy, will also be there to interact with the fans.

This might be the biggest tournament that has happened in Southeast Asia since the KL Major took a place a year ago, so this could be the big international Dota 2 tournament experience that Malaysian fans will want to travel to this year.

If you planning to do so, the ticket information for the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational is available at the ONE Esports website right here.
