Xiaomi unveiled its Mi Watch during the Mi CC9 Pro launch event today. Prior to the official announcement, Xiaomi has posted a series of teasers for the smartwatch on its Weibo account.

At first glance, the design of the Mi Watch does look ironically similar to the Apple’s own Watch Series wearable. It sports a digital crown for smartwatch menu navigation and comes with a 1.78″ inches AMOLED display with the always-on feature.

In terms of software, the Mi Watch runs on Xiaomi’s homegrown “MIUI For Watch” interface that, in turn, is based on Google’s Wear OS. Underneath the hood, the wearable runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC. Along with a 570mAh battery that Xiaomi says will last up to 36 hours on a single charge.

Xiaomi says the Mi Watch could be either a companion device for your smartphone or a standalone smart device. In regards to the former, the smartwatch does come with 4G eSIM support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS connectivity. Additionally, Xiaomi has also integrated its own virtual assistant, Xiao Ai, into MIUI for Watch.

The Mi Watch also acts as a health monitor with the heartbeat, sleep and stress tracking. Moreover, Xiaomi has also added an “app store” for the smartwatch to enable third party features, of which the brand announced more than 40 apps that will be available for the device out of the box.

The Mi Watch will launch at two price points. The standard Black or White version will retail for 1299 Yuan (~RM767), while the variant with the stainless steel strap and Sapphire glass will cost 1999 Yuan (~RM1,181). At the time of writing, Xiaomi Malaysia did not say when the device will launch locally.
