iOS users may soon be able to play WhatsApp audio messages from their notifications. According to a report, the latest beta version of the app is currently being tested, with the feature expected to support both voice messages and audio files.
Currently, the feature is only available for beta testers in the Apple TestFlight program iOS 2.19.91.1 beta version with only a few users are getting the feature. In addition, the feature will also be made available to the WhatsApp Business beta program.
Due to the current limitations of iOS, users are can only reply to audio messages through the notification using text only. Further, the app is still buggy, but that’s expected, given its beta status.
For those fortunate enough to be in the beta program, do note that senders will not be notified if the recipient played the voice message from the notification. To be precise, the play receipt will only be sent after the recipient opens up the WhatsApp app on their iPhones.
At the time of writing, there’s still no word as to when WhatsApp will make the feature a staple.
