After its brief absence from the Android scene, Spotify is bringing back the app’s widget. The music streaming service announced its decision amidst a tirage of complaints and demands from fans to have the widget restored.
For those among you living under a rock, Spotify removed all presence of its widget from the Android ecosystem back in August and without a clear reason. Needless to say, the move was an unpopular one among its users, especially those who have clearly gotten used to its convenience.
The announcement was made by a Spotify community manager in reply to one of the forum threads regarding the widget. In addition to the widget revival, Spotify also announced that it will be buffing the widget with performance and visual improvements.
After the widget removal, the Spotify Community system held a poll to foresee the return of the widget. As a result, over 16,000 users voted for the return after three weeks of voting.
Spotify has made several design changes on its Android app throughout the years, namely the song library, and the search menu in the playlist. Though Spotify did not announce an exact date for widget’s return, it’s clear that both the fans and we are definitely look forward to its release.
