Streamyx Is Now Unifi Lite; Existing Customers To Be Converted Automatically This September

Alongside Unifi AIR, TM has also announced that the company will automatically migrate copper-based Streamyx to the new Unifi Lite plan next month. While the name might be new-ish (not to be confused with the 2017 unifi Lite plan), the plan was originally mentioned at the Kembara Digital Malaysia roadshow in Ipoh last week.

Normally priced at RM 89 per month, Unifi Lite will be priced at RM 69 per month for existing Streamyx customers. Those who subscribed to the 2017 unifi Lite RM 99 plan will also be eligible for the new price.

For customers that already paying less than RM 69 per month, their monthly fee will remain the same. In terms of speed, we were informed by TM representative that it will go up to 8Mbps if it is technically viable although customers might be offered the unifi Air plan instead if they are eligible for it.

Meanwhile, the automatic migration will take place this September. In other words, Streamyx customers will see their monthly bill in September reduced to RM 69. At the same time, there will be no changes to customers contract as well, if there’s any.

TM has pointed out that Unifi Lite is not a permanent solution. Instead, it acts as a temporary measure as the company improves its network through the utilization of multiple technologies including fibre, wireless, and GiGA Wire. This effort is expected to be completed by 2021, as per what the company has announced in Ipoh last week.

For more information on the Unifi Lite migration, check out this FAQ over at unifi’s official website.
