Some users of the OnePlus 7 Pro have been experiencing phantom taps on the display. The issue was first reported last week, when some users noticed that their OnePlus 7 Pro phones are registering taps without anyone actually touching it. Now, it looks like the company is ready to issue a fix for this.
The OnePlus 7 Pro’s phantom tap problem isn’t one that affects all of the phones, but it’s far from an isolated issue either. Fortunately, it looks to be a software problem that can be fixed with a firmware update.
This is the statement by OnePlus regarding phantom taps, according to The Verge:
We have received limited reports from users describing their encounter of the “phantom taps” experience. Our team has worked hard to identify these cases, and we will release a firmware update in the upcoming weeks.
Incidentally, the report also makes mention of other touchscreen issues, including unresponsive corners. This is also an issue that has been identified as a software problem, and a fix for it is also already on the way. That said, there’s no indication as to when exactly both fixes will be rolled out to OnePlus 7 Pro owners.
