Back at CES 2019, Alienware has introduced a brand-new design identity called Alienware Legend which was implemented on its Area-51m desktop replacement gaming machine and 55-inch OLED gaming display. At the recent Computex 2019, the premium gaming arm of Dell has announced that the design language has also been implemented on the latest iteration of m15 and m17 gaming laptops.
Despite the new design language, Alienware has maintained the slim physique of both m15 and m17 gaming laptop while providing several improvements over previous models. For example, these new models feature equally new keyboard which offers longer travel distance at 1.7mm alongside precision-point glass touchpad.
Also comes with all-magnesium chassis, there are new hardware on them as well. Both laptops can be obtained with up to 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9980HK, 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM, and two 2TB PCIe M.2 solid state drives in RAID0 mode. Graphically, they can be fitted with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics card.
Alienware team has also highlighted the 8-phase and 6-phase voltage regulators that it has fitted for both laptop’s graphics and processor respectively which apparently help sustain their performances. Alienware Cyro Tech 3.0 thermal solution which has higher airflow then previous m15 and M17 helps cool these laptops down.
The m15 can also be fitted with a 240Hz Full HD panel or 60Hz 4K OLED panel while the m17 display options go up to 144Hz Full HD panel which also holds the honour as the first Alienware laptop in the world to come with Dell’s new Eyesafe low blue light technology. Not to forget, the optional Tobii eye tracker is also available for both gaming laptops.
In terms of availability, both m15 and m17 will be released throughout the world starting from 11 June onwards with a starting price of USD 1,499.99 (about RM 6,274). We’ll keep you posted once we hear more information regarding their release in Malaysia.
