This particular product was first shown to the world as the Symphonic Light Speaker under Sony Life Space UX showcase at CES 2015. The finalized version was then released as the Glass Sound Speaker in 2016 but consumers to Malaysia have to wait for two years as the product was only officially announced by Sony Malaysia earlier today.
Prior to this, the only official way for customers in Malaysia to obtain this hybrid wireless speaker is by pre-ordering the A9F Master Series 4K OLED TVs back in August which themselves already cost between RM 14,999 to RM 21,999.
As per its name, what you looking at here is essentially a combination of Bluetooth wireless speaker and tabletop LED light. Comes with an aluminum body alongside glass tube tweeter, 50mm woofer, and translucent passive radiator, it is also rather clear that a significant time has been spent into designing the product.
Aside from the sleek physical design, Sony has also purposely tuned the behavior of the speaker’s LED light to mimic a lantern or candle. Specifically, it projects a warm and soft light that would actually dim in slow and gentle pace when turned off.
Users can also pair two units together if they want to listen to them in Stereo or Double mode. With a battery life of up to 4 hours in Bluetooth mode, the Sony Glass Sound Speaker is priced at RM 3199 and can be obtained at Sony Store Suria KLCC and The Curve as well as other Sony authorized retailers throughout the country.
