Apple’s Siri has been providing alot of laughs since yesterday to users who did a search on US President Donald Trump. Apparently, the digital assistant would occasionally display a picture of the male sex reproductive organ when asked about his age. Instead of a proper image of the US President himself.
The discovery was first reported by The Verge, and as the writer points out, the bug seems to be linked with the way Siri’s algorithm sources images. In this scenario, Siri was drawing upon images from the US President’s official Wikipedia page.
On that note, Wikipedia itself had confirmed with The Verge that the random flashes of mall genitalia by Siri was indeed an act of vandalism on the page. An act which, by the way, had been committed by more than one editor.
For the record, this isn’t the first time Siri failed to discern an online snafu. Prior to this incident, Siri’s AI algorithm had once believed that Bulgaria’s national anthem to be “Despacito”. On top of that, there’s also an entire sub-reddit dedicated to the digital assistant’s follies.
Wikipedia have already banned the group “indefinitely”, and at the time of writing, prompting Siri with an inquiry about Donald Trump will no longer show you an image of the male organ.
