Sony announces that the company will be bringing in two compact cameras for consumers looking for a small yet delivers high-quality images and video. Both the HX99 and WX800 crams long zoom lenses in a smartphone-sized body.
The HX99 features a long 28x zoom in a fairly compact body. Inside, Sony has manage to fit a 24-720mm equivalent (28X) f/3.5-6.4 zoom lens, a retractable OLED viewfinder and a flip-up touchscreen for selfies, and video blogging (or vlogging). Thanks to the new BIONZ image processor, it supports 4K video recording, 120 fps high-speed video for slow-motion video, as well as capture high-resolution images. Thanks to the 18.2MP sensor.
The WX800 replicates almost all of the features from the HX99, sans the retractable OLED viewfinder. Otherwise, it shares the same 18.2MP sensor, 2x zoom lens and the flip-up display. It even records 4K video – just like the HX99.
Sony confirms that the two models will be arriving in Malaysia in November. No official pricing for the cameras have been announced by Sony at the time of writing.
