OpenSignal Mobile Network Report for Oct 2018: Maxis Is Still The Leader

The network performance research company OpenSignal has recently released yet another report regarding the performance of mobile networks in Malaysia. It was based on the measurements that the company has collected from 1 June to 28 August using data from 233,257 test devices throughout the country.

It focused on several factors including download speed, upload speed, latency, and availability. With the exception of the availability factor, all of them involved 3G and 4G connections.

According to the report, Maxis is the overall leader out of the six mobile telcos that the company tested which also include Celcom, Digi, U Mobile, Unifi (previously Webe), and Yes. This is something that the telco has managed to achieve last year although Maxis still not able to achieve a clean sweep of all the categories within OpenSignal’s analysis.

Specifically, Maxis managed to edge out its competitors in terms of 4G download speed, upload speed, latency as well as overall speed. However, it shared the top spot for 3G download speed with Celcom while U Mobile apparently provides the best latency when it comes to 3G connection.

The 4G-exclusive Yes once again is the top of the chart when it comes to 4G availability at 92.91% but its worth to note that Celcom and Maxis are not that far behind as their 4G availability rating is more than 80%. To check out the report in detail, head on to OpenSignal website.
