The Huawei P20 Lite has appeared for pre-order in Poland, almost two weeks before its official announcement in Paris. Thus far, it would seem to be only the P20 Lite; with no sign of the other – more premium – devices.
The website confirms the specifications and price for the new smartphone. The P20 Lite will have Huawei’s Kirin 659 processor, Huawei’s customised EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, and a 3000mAh battery. Its screen will be a 5.84-inch 1080p display with a 19:9 aspect ratio – including a notch at the top of the screen. In terms of storage, users will only have one variant to choose from- a 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM. There is also a micro SD card slot for extra storage of up to 256GB.
Imaging is handled by the 16MP+2MP dual camera on the back. On the other hand, the front camera will have a single 16MP camera for selfie purposes. Aside from the dual cameras, the fingerprint sensor is also placed at the back of the phone. Huawei is offering three colours for the P20 Lite which are Blue, Pink and Black. The handy 3.5mm audio jack is still present on the phone. The P20 Lite uses USB Type-C port for charging along with fast charging capabilities.
According to the website, the P20 Lite is priced at 1599 PLN or RM 1833. The delivery period for the phone is about a week or two from the date of purchase. This suggests that the phone will be in the hands of customers right after the event in Paris on 27 March, although that timing seems extremely optimistic. It’s more likely that the shipping date is a placeholder until the official announcement.
We should have the official word by Huawei regarding the P20 series during its launch. With the news of the P20 already received its SIRIM certification in Malaysia, the new series of smartphones by Huawei should be hitting the stores soon.
