UPDATE – 7 FEB / 400PM: Microsoft Malaysia has finally released the official information regarding the arrival of its Surface Book 2 into our market.
While yesterday’s information still holds true, the company revealed that the 1TB variants of the device will be released into our market as well. Here are the prices for them:
RM 13,399: 13.5″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB / 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD
RM 14,199 – 15″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD
However, the actual release date for them is not yet known at the moment.
As for other variants that we’ve mentioned in the original story, they will be officially released in Malaysia on 15 March although users are already able to pre-order these devices at Harvey Norman, Gizmart, Senheng/senQ, SNS Network, Thunder Match, and All IT outlets starting from today onwards.
ORIGINAL STORY – 6 Feb / 943PM:
While the pre-order for the device supposed to only take place tomorrow, the pre-order listings for Microsoft Surface Book 2 have somehow appeared on Lazada Malaysia. Belonged to SNS Network’s GLOO Store, these listings have generally revealed the hardware options of Surface Book 2 that are available in Malaysia as well as their pricing.
As mentioned before, the Surface Book 2 can be obtained with either 13.5 or 15-inch display. Here is the the pricing for each variants of the device:
RM 6,899: 13.5″ / Intel Core i5-7300U / Intel HD Graphics 620 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD
RM 8,899: 13.5″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD
RM 11,199: 13.5″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB / 16GB RAM / 256GB SSD
RM 10,799: 15″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD
RM 12,499: 15″ / Intel Core i7-8650U / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD
Another important information that has been included in these listing is the estimated release date for the device. Interestingly, it depends on which display size that customers have choose for their Surface Book 2.
For those who plan to get their hands on any of the three 13.5-inch models, they will receive their device at the end of February. On another hand, customers that choose to purchase the 15-inch variants will only get their devices towards the end of March.
Given that SNS Network is one of the authorized Surface dealers in Malaysia, we have no reason to doubt the information above. Nevertheless, the appearance of these listings should means that the official announcement from Microsoft Malaysia will come soon enough.
