Huami Amazfit Bip Has A 45-day Battery Life and Waterproof Construction For Only $99

A new smartwatch from Huami boasts 45 days of battery life on a single charge. Despite its affordable price tag, the Huami Amazfit Bip features a colour screen, GPS, and even a heart rate sensor in a light polycarbonate body.

The design of the Bip is reminiscent of the Pebble Time and Apple Watch with its square display. Underneath the Gorilla Glass 3 is a 1.28-inch transflective colour display – this display is the key to the long battery life. Thanks to the low power consumption of the display, the Bip can last for 45 days on a single charge of the 190mAh battery. Even when turning on other sensors the battery life only goes down to around 22 hours – still pretty respectable for a smartwatch.

Speaking of sensors, the Bip comes with a slew of them, including a PPG heart rate sensor, triaxial acceleration sensor, geomagnetic sensor, barometric pressure sensor, and GPS + GLONASS. The screen is an always-on display which has indicators for activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and of course, the time.

To guard against the elements (and also body sweat), the Bip is IP68-rated, so it can withstand water and dust quite easily, making it a great workout companion. The watch is also running on Xiaomi’s proprietary OS rather than Android Wear. On the flip side, this makes the Bip usable to both Android and iOS owners as it can connect via Bluetooth to either platform.

Available right now in the US, the Huami Amazfit Bip is priced at US$99 (about RM385) and comes in four colour options: Onyx Black, White Cloud, Kokoda Green, and Cinnabar Red.
