Ubisoft has thrown its hat into the AI assistant ring. The company introduced Sam, a gaming oriented assistant designed to work with the Ubisoft Club service. As expected this only works with games from the developer, and is currently running as a beta test.
Sam sort of does the things that other AI assistants do. It can answer questions, albeit only about a particular set of games. This rather limited scope is centered on calling up player stats about number of hours played, objectives completed, win-loss records, and can even bring up recommend YouTube videos to help players improve their games.

For all intents and purposes, Sam is an overgrown chatbot that only talks about Ubisoft games. Which could be useful for people who only ever play a handful of games.
There’s really no telling what Ubisoft is up to with Sam. And we can only continue to guess, seeing that beta is only available in Canada at the moment. Imagining a future where Sam is used to provide hints and updates is not too difficult; although we’re not sure if it will catch on with gamers.
