Claimed to be the first in Malaysia, unifi TV (formerly known as HyppTV) viewers will be able to participate in a rather unique game show through their set top box starting from tonight onwards. All they need to do is to make sure that the remote control for their unifi TV’s STB is in good condition.
This is because that they need it to answer the questions on the brand-new live game show called Teka Tekan on unifi TV’s HyppSensasi channel 116. Taking place from Monday to Friday at 830 to 900pm, unifi TV viewers can participate in the show in real time by picking the correct answer to the question shown on the screen through the 4 colored buttons on their unifi TV STB remote.
According to the show’s FAQ, viewers are given 45 seconds to answer each question and a notification will appeared directly on their TV screen when their answer has been received by the system. To become a winner, they must answer all five questions correctly and the list of winners will be announced by TM on daily basis at 1000pm.
This is where things get really interesting: TM is giving away RM 20,000 of cash on each episode. However, the actual amount that each winner receives will depend on the number of winners on respective episodes as the cash prize will be divided among the winners.
As an example, the winner will receive the full RM 20,000 bounty if he or she is the sole winner of that episode. However, if there are 60 people able to answer all five questions on that episode, each of them will then receive RM 333.33 instead. If there are no winners, the prize money will be then added to the following day and will continue to accumulate throughout the week before it resets back to RM 20,000 at the beginning of each week.
In a way, this game show reminds us of those pay-to-play TV games that participants need to send SMS or use their telephone dial/keypad in order to interact with them. The difference is that TM has taken a much more direct approach for Teka Tekan by utilizing the unifi TV box itself rather than using a separate communication method.
