Aside from Predator Triton 700, Acer has also launched another gaming beast into Malaysia in the form of Predator Orion 9000. Originally revealed at IFA 2017 back in August, the desktop PC will be released into the market next month.
In Malaysia, the massive desktop monster will be offered in two different processors: Intel Core i7-8700K and Intel Core i9-7980XE Extreme Edition. Subsequently, customers’ choice of processor would also determine other hardware inside their Orion 9000.
The Core i7 model is equipped with 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB PCIe solid state drive, 1TB 7200rpm hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. On another hand, the Core i9 model carries 32GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB PCIe solid state drive, 3TB 7200rpm hard drive, and two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards.
The Core i9 model also comes with CPU liquid cooler that Acer has sourced from Cooler Master. However, both variants are equipped standard with 1000W power supply that should provide enough voltage headroom for customers to push their Orion 9000 further which can be done directly through the Turbo button that is located on top of the system’s front panel.
Acer has also implemented airflow management design called IceTunnel 2.0 into Orion 9000 that involves separate thermal zones within the system which themselves have individual airflow tunnels in order to provide optimum levels of head dissipation. Complete with EMI compliant side window, it also comes with two handles and wheels to help users move the gigantic system much easier.
Both of Orion’s side window and side panel also feature a latch to make it easier for users to access the system’s internal area for maintenance and future component upgrades. Customizable RGB lights help highlight the system even further.
Price-wise, the Core i7 model priced at RM 12,999 while the Core i9 variant goes for a whopping RM 28,888. Those are steep price tags instead but given the hardware as well as the muscular and thermal-optimized chassis that Orion 9000 has, they didn’t really surprise us.
Nevertheless, do look out for it at selected Acer retailers throughout Malaysia this December.
