South Park is getting more than one game this year with the newly announced South Park: Phone Destroyer. It’s a free to play title appearing on Android and iOS; and seems to some sort of team based battle game involving characters and assets from South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Ubisoft has said that there will be nothing hidden behind a paywall for this game, and players will be able to unlock everything through gameplay. That said, there’s no telling how much effort will actually go into acquiring card packs without spending money. With any luck, it’ll follow a model closer to Hearthstone than any other mobile game on the market.
There’s no exact release date yet, but Ubisoft has said that it will be available at some time this year. It’s possible that the release will be timed to promote South Park: The Fractured But Whole which is coming in October.
