Instagram wants to make it easier for you to search and explore the world around you. The social networking company recently introduced two new updates to its Explore tab, bringing location stories and hashtag stories. This means that you can now easily see what’s happening around you, and find stories related to your interest.
When you go to the Explore tab on your Instagram app, you will see a new story ring at the top with your location on it. These stories are public posts shared by people who have used location stickers on their stories. If you want, you can also search for any location around the world and see the featured stories on a story ring for that place located at the top of the location page.
On top of location stories, Instagram is also introducing hashtag stories on Explore to help you discover stories related to your interests. When you search for a hashtag, Instagram will show you a story ring on the top of the page filled with stories using that hashtag.
Want your Instagram story featured on the new location and hashtag stories? Simply use a location or hashtag sticker. If featured, you will “see a line at the top of your stories viewer list showing how many people saw it in the larger story”. If you do not want your story to appear on Explore, tap the X on your stories viewer list.
Location stories on Explore are now available on iOS and Android devices as part of Instagram version 10.22. Hashtag stories will be rolled out over the coming weeks. Check out Instagram now to find out more about its latest update.
