Xiaomi Mi 6, HTC U11 & Sony Xperia XZ Premium Appear on SIRIM

This is an odd one: as many as three flagship smartphones have been registered on SIRIM. These include the Xiaomi Mi 6, the recently announced HTC U11, as well as the Sony Xperia XZ Premium – flagship devices powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Out of the three devices, the Mi 6 is definitely the one we didn’t see coming. After all, Xiaomi did not explicitly mention if the Mi 6 will be brought into Malaysia officially. Now that the device has been registered with SIRIM, it’s very likely to be launched on our shores in the very near future.

The HTC U11, on the other hand, is a rather pleasant surprise. Although we already know that HTC is aiming to bring the U11 into Malaysia sometime in the second week of June 2017, the fact that it’s already registered with SIRIM after its official unveiling just two days ago is quite impressive.

Of course, the Xperia XZ Premium is an interesting device too. Initially unveiled back at MWC 2017, Sony Malaysia opened registration of interest for the flagship smartphone just last month. In light of this, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume that the XZ Premium will be the first device of the bunch to be released here.

Now that these three flagship devices are registered with SIRIM, it’s likely that they’ll be made available in Malaysia in the coming weeks – or months. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how much these Snapdragon 835 devices will go for once they’re launched here.
