It looks like Facebook has taken yet another page out of Snapchat’s book. The social networking company recently introduced a new face filter feature to its Instagram app, allowing you to apply fun face filters to share with your friends. The company is also introducing several new features in this update, including the ability to play videos in reverse with “Rewind”, hashtag sticker, as well as a new eraser brush when using drawing tools.
Give yourself cute bunny ears and nose that moves and twitch, a majestic crown, or a geeky look with math equations floating around your head. Instagram says that there are eight face filters at launch, and can be used via the front- or back-facing camera; it also works with Boomerang.

To use face filters in Instagram, simply open the camera, and tap on the new face icon in the bottom right corner. Just select a filter you would like, and take a picture or video. Once you’re done recording, you can send it to your friends through Instagram Direct, or add it to your story.
The update should be available right now. On top of a new face filter, Instagram is also introducing a new “Rewind” feature in the camera. Located next to “Boomerang” and “Hands-Free”, select Rewind and capture surreal videos that defy the laws of physics like water floating back up your cup, or a microphone that you dropped flying back into your hand.
You can also add more context to your story with a new hashtag sticker. Simply tap the sticker icon located on the top right of your screen, select and customise your hashtag. People will be able tap the hashtag sticker to visit the hashtag page and explore related posts.
Finally, Instagram is also giving you a new way to edit your photos. After taking a photo or video, select a drawing tool, then tap and hold to fill the entire screen with colour. Then, use the eraser brush to creatively reveal parts of your photo or video underneath; sounds like a perfect tool to use to hide your messy background.
