Instagram is currently rolling out an update to its iOS and Android app, making your saved posts a lot neater than before. The company just introduced a new collections feature that lets you neatly organise all your saved posts into collections of things you care about.
You can have collection of things like dog pictures, coffee spots, and such, and refer back to them at a later date. Just like a regular saved post on Instagram that was introduced last December, collections are private, and only you can see the content inside.
To save a post, simply tap and hold the bookmark icon underneath a post. You can create and name a new collection, or add the post to the one you’ve already created. If you already have a bunch of saved posts, you can easily organise them into collections. Simply tap the plus icon on the top right corner, give your collection a name, and select the saved posts you would like to add. To view your collections, just tap the “Collections” tab on your profile.
Instagram says that since they introduced the ability to save posts, almost half of “Instagrammers have saved at least one post”. The company says that “whether you want to plan your next day trip, visit your favourite artists’ illustrations or always have some animal videos on hand, collections can help you keep track of posts you want to remember”. Sounds like something Pinterest users are already doing on the platform.
The update is currently being rolled out this week as part of Instagram version 10.16 for iOS and Android.
