Consumers who are looking for extra performance in their PC can soon obtain such boost through the usage of Intel Optane Memory Modules. In an announcement earlier today, the company stated that the new modules will be available to consumers starting from 24 April.

Utilizing the company’s 3D XPoint memory technology, the Optane modules will come in two configurations: 16GB and 32GB. As you might able to guess from their storage sizes, these modules are designed for caching rather than storage.

Intel Optane Memory ModulesIntel claimed that the Optane modules able to help increase PC boot time two times faster than before alongside up to 14x faster storage performance and 28% gain on overall system performance. There is also performance gain on individual applications such as up to 5x faster for Chrome browser, 67% faster game launch, and many more.

While we still waiting for information on the local pricing as well as the actual release date for the Intel Optane Memory Modules in Malaysia, we do know that they are priced at USD 44 (about RM 195) for 16GB and USD 77 (about RM 342) for 32GB in United States. Do note that these Intel Optane Memory Modules will only work 7th generation Intel Core processors, and compatible motherboards with Intel 200 series chipset.
