We all know that Xiaomi isn’t just a typical technology company that develops mobile devices and accessories. The Chinese company also makes household products and the latest product from them is a rice cooker that uses pressure induction heating technology with over 2,000 ways to cook your rice. Of course, it is smart too and can be controlled with a smartphone app.

First up, the rice cooker has a minimalist design, making it a perfect fit in today’s modern kitchen. On the inside, it uses a cast iron bowl that has stronger thermal stability compared to alloy or stainless steel. It can perfectly cook various types of rice using precise temperature control, making sure that every grain of rice is evenly heated.

So what’s so smart about the rice cooker? To be controlled via the company’s Mi Home app, you can scan the barcode on your rice package, and the rice cooker will figure the perfect heating method to cook your rice. According to the company, there are 2,450 heating methods in total. It also allows for further customisations, allowing you to adjust the softness of your rice.

The rice cooker from Xiaomi is the first product under the new MIJIA brand that is under the Mi Eco-system. It means “Xiaomi Smart Home”, with a logo that looks like a shield, and is as reliable as one too.

The rice cooker will go on sale in China on 6 April 2016 for a retail price of 999 Chinese Yuan – that’s about RM609. Xiaomi says that the price is significantly cheaper than other brands of rice cooker with similar technology.
