Starting from today, they have just been given a bigger space by the social network to do so on its mobile apps through what the company called as Canvas.

According to Facebook, Canvas ads is defined as “an immersive mobile experience for businesses to tell their stories and showcase their products”. It was apparently developed based on feedbacks from the creative industry and its partners throughout the world that understandably always on the look for better ways to convey their stories on Facebook. Furthermore, it is also designed to be fast as well as more engaging and rewarding for their targeted audience.

As for users, they will first see Canvas ads on their News Feed as a sponsored post with a label that stated “tap to open” on the post’s image or video. Once users choose to engage with the said Canvas, it will then expand itself into full screen mode within the app itself.

In other words, users themselves still hold the decision to engage with Canvas ads. Even then, the experience is still contained with Facebook’s mobile app and it will not bring users to external sites unless they choose to do so through links or buttons within the said Canvas.
