Asus Malaysia has unveiled two new high performance routers on our shores: the RT-A88U and RT-AC5300. Both routers will be available for purchase through selected retailers in Malaysia soon, although these products were first unveiled late last year.
The first router Asus Malaysia has unveiled is the RT-AC5300. Asus proudly describes its newest router as the world’s fastest tri-band router. In total, the RT-AC5300 has eight detachable MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) antennas.
The included tri-band Wi-Fi and Asus’ Smart Connect features are said to allow for a seamless connection between the RT-AC5300 and connected devices. Besides that, Asus claims that its router has a built-in “game accelerator” that will supposedly reduce latency significantly during online gaming.
In terms of ports, the RT-AC5300 is equipped with a single WAN port, two USB ports (3.0 and 2.0), and finally, four Ethernet ports. According to Asus, the RT-AC5300 router will be made available in Malaysia by early March this year and will retail for a price of RM2,199.
Moving on, the next router that Asus Malaysia announced is the RT-AC88U. Unlike the RT-AC5300, the RT-AC88U is a dual-band router that is equipped with four antennas. In addition to that, the router is also equipped with Asus AiRadar along with universal beamforming to ensure efficient connectivity performance.
However, the RT-AC88U is also equipped with a built-in gaming accelerator, which is also present on the RT-AC5300. Surprisingly, the router comes with plenty of ports. These include a single WAN port, eight Ethernet ports, and two USB ports (3.0 and 2.0).
According to Asus Malaysia, the RT-AC88U will also be available in Malaysia in early March this year; the router will cost RM1,799.
