Huawei’s latest flagship phablet, the Mate 8, has been registered on SIRIM. More likely than not, Huawei Malaysia is gearing up to launch the device here in Malaysia soon, which is in line with our previous report a couple of weeks back.

The Huawei Mate 8 marked the debut of Huawei’s latest and greatest mobile processor, the Kirin 950. Featuring four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 1.8GHz cores in a big.LITTLE configuration, this is one capable chipset. The Mate 8 also has a 6.0-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display, up to 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (which supports cards up to 128GB), and a generous 4,000mAh battery.

Rounding out the specifications of the Mate 8 are a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and phase detection autofocus, an 8MP front-facing snapper, a rear fingerprint sensor, and of course, LTE connectivity. If we were to look back at the Huawei Mate S‘ local launch, it only took Huawei Malaysia about a month to officially launch the device after we spotted it in SIRIM’s database. If the same timeframe applies to the Mate 8, it could be officially unveiled in Malaysia sometime next month. Of course, this is merely an educated guess at this point in time.

At the time of this writing, we have yet to receive any official information from Huawei Malaysia regarding the Mate 8. Considering the Chinese company has been releasing its devices on our shores rather timely, it should only be a matter of time before the Mate 8 is officially launched here.
