Overwatch has kicked off the holiday season with a new Christmas themed lootbox. As usual, this includes new skins, emotes, sprays, victory poses, and highlight reels. A festive brawl has also been released, although it’s only about as festive as a map full of Mei can be.
There are 100 new collectibles available during Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland event, and they are the expected Christmas themed festivities – or at least vaguely winter related. While Torbjorn and Tracer end up as Santa and an elf respectively, Winston is curiously dressed as a Yeti. That being said, replacing Road Hog’s hook with a candy cane was a stroke of genius.
Mei’s Snowball Offensive takes over the weekly brawl with a snowball fight. Both teams are filled with Mei, and her pistol has been modified to shoot giant snowballs. These are one-hit kill snowballs, but can only be reloaded using snowdrifts that have been scattered around the map.
The Winter Wonderland will run from today until 2 January, giving players plenty of time to grind for lootboxes.
