Blizzard Entertainment officially confirmed at BlizzCon 2026 that the sequel to its critically acclaimed Diablo universe, Diablo V, is in development. As for when it’ll be coming out, the Microsoft subsidiary has given a 2029 launch window.
The announcement of a sequel is a little early and out of character for Blizzard; it would be seven years after the launch of Diablo III before the current title, Diablo IV, was announced, with the launch occurring years later in 2023. Now, there’s even a 47-second video of things to come for Diablo V.

On that note, Blizzard is still keeping details of the game close to its chest and isn’t revealing a whole lot. What we can skim off the video clip and the official fluff is that Sanctuary has fallen to the forces of Hell, and more to the point, the game will mark the return of its most iconic antagonist, the Lord of Terror himself.
To that end, Sanctuary is on fire and forces of the High Heavens, namely the Seraphs, can be seen being crucified by the denizens, who in turn are professing what can be viewed as their undying loyalty to Diablo himself. At the end of the teaser trailer, you can see a silhouette of the Prime Evil himself.

Diablo V aside, Blizzard also announced that the Starcraft franchise is being revived, but fans will have to wait until 2030 for a full game to be released. With respect to that announcement, it also sounds like they are changing its DNA. Instead of an RTS, the game will, in its own words, launch as an open-world shooter.
Like Diablo V, there isn’t a whole lot of detail we can skim off the 3-minute, propaganda-style video, other than that you’ll possibly be playing as Terran Marine for the Dominion of Man. The timeline isn’t specific either, so we don’t actually know if the main story is an in-between for the first and second Starcraft instalment, or if this takes places after the events of Starcraft II.
