Uber will be available in Seremban from December, although it will only be offering UberX services for the time being. This expansion marks the seventh city in Malaysia to be serviced by the ride-sharing company.
There’s not much else to be said about the expansion, as Uber is curiously not offering any promotions. It has traditionally at least given discount codes for the new city, and with the recent Kuching expansion also receiving a kitten delivery celebration.
It could be that Seremban isn’t quite a big an expansion as the other cities; considering that the location is near enough that some drivers from the Klang Valley have already technically been catering to the city.
We expect that Uber will be stepping up its expansion programmes in the region, as it is no longer sinking money into its Chinese operations. Parliament is also finalising legislation to regulate ride-sharing services; which would be a massive opportunity for Uber and its ilk.
