Just a couple of weeks ago, the Acer Swift 3 – part of Acer’s many new laptops launched at IFA 2016 – was made available on our shores. Now, we have spotted the Spin 5 in Malaysia as well, and it has a pretty compelling price tag – especially for an ultraportable.
However, there are a few sacrifices that have to be made to lower down the Spin 5’s price tag. Retailing at only RM2,199, the Spin 5 for the Malaysian market has a 13.3-inch 1080p IPS touch display, an Intel Core i3-6100U processor paired with 4GB of DDR4 RAM, a 128GB SSD, as well as battery life of up to 10 hours.
Although a Core i3-6100U processor may not provide enough power for some users, the convertible nature of the Spin 5 is a compelling feature. On top of that, there is actually a higher-end variant of the Spin 5 in other markets with a more powerful Core i5-6200U processor as well as double the RAM and SSD storage at 8GB and 256GB respectively; it remains to be seen if Acer Malaysia will bring this particular model into our market.
Now that both the Acer Spin 5 and Swift 3 are in Malaysia, it’ll be interesting to see when Acer Malaysia will be launching the other laptops in both series. More specifically, the Swift 7 and Spin 7 premium ultraportables.
