It’s the time of the year again, Interbrand’s Best Global Brands of 2016 is out and guess who takes the top two spots – Apple and Google of course. This marks the fourth consecutive year for both companies to claim the top positions. Just like previous years, major tech companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, and Amazon are among the top 10 spots.
Just like last year, Apple takes the number one spot followed by Google. However, the growth is not as big as before, growing only 5% to US$178,119m compared to a whopping 43% growth in 2015. Google on the other hand is pretty consistent, growing by 11% to US$133.252m compared to 12% in 2015. Microsoft and Samsung remains at fourth and seventh position respectively.
While Facebook did not make the top ten list, it has been doing extremely well in the past year. Last year, it increased 54%, placing it on the 23rd position (it was 29th in 2014), and this year, the company has grown by 48%, placing them in the 15th position. Facebook is also one of the top riser of the year. Amazon and Adobe are also the world’s five Top Growing Brands.
Other notable mentions include Huawei, who jumped from the 88th position to 72nd, Lenovo went up a notch from 100th position to the 99th, and Sony remains on the 58th position. Check out Interbrand for the full list.
