Lenovo Confirms Moto Z Lineup Is Not Replacing the Moto X Series

When Lenovo officially unveiled the new Moto Z and Moto Z Force, many thought that these two devices signal the end of the Moto X lineup. However, this simply isn’t the case: Lenovo even went as far as to say that the Moto X series “is alive and well.”

This comes at a surprise, considering the fact that the Moto Z devices are high-end offerings, which is typically reserved for the Moto X series. However, there is one thing that the Moto X lineup lack in comparison to the Z series: Moto Mods.

Based on Lenovo’s statement regarding the status of the Moto X, it’s evident that the Moto Z series and the Moto Mods are targeted at “tech-hungry consumers who are looking to get a brand new set of experiences from their smartphone,” Lenovo said. If this statement is to be believed, it appears the Moto X branding isn’t going anywhere.

Lenovo’s decision to market two series of flagship devices is an interesting move, and to a certain extent, it may even be beneficial to the company. In Lenovo’s words, this essentially make the company’s portfolio “more robust for consumers looking for the perfect smartphone to fit their needs.” Of course, whether or not this strategy will work in Lenovo’s favour still remains to be seen.
