Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro Spotted on SIRIM; Samsung Returning to the Laptop Market in Malaysia?

Samsung mentioned in the past that it will no longer be selling its laptops in Malaysia, and true enough, we haven’t seen Samsung laptops in the market for quite some time now. However, it appears this may change in the near future; we have spotted a particularly interesting Samsung laptop – a high-end one, at that – in SIRIM’s database.

The laptop in question is none other than the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro, which is registered under Samsung Malaysia with the model number “NP940Z5L.” As usual, a quick Google search led us to the product page of the laptop with the same model number.

This is a very interesting product to find in SIRIM’s database, as it may indicate that Samsung Malaysia is – at the very least – considering to return to the local laptop market. To top it off, the ATIV Book 9 Pro is a premium laptop, complete with a 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 4K touchscreen display, a sixth generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor paired with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card. The Book 9 Pro apparently has up to 6.5 hours of battery life as well.

Whether or not Samsung Malaysia is gearing up to launching the ATIV Book 9 Pro on our shores still remains to be seen. After all, a SIRIM certification does not necessarily mean a particular product will be launched in Malaysia, although said product is usually available for purchase locally after some time.
