The premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Malaysia is happening two days from now, and the hype is definitely real. Facebook is joining in as it has now added the feature to allow its users to add a lightsaber to their profile pictures.
All users have to do is just visit this link here, and click on ‘try it’. Next, choose to wield either Kylo Ren’s red lightsaber or a blue one. Then, rearrange your profile picture and set an expiration date for it – your profile picture will then revert to the original after the set time.
Other than Star Wars, there are also other themes users can choose from. There was the celebrate pride movement which happened a couple of months back, and the more recent ‘Pray for Paris’ movement. Other than these, users can show support for their favourite sports team as well.
It’s interesting how Facebook is letting its users change their profile picture to let them express their preference over something, or to simply show support and increase awareness. Speaking of showing support, now that you have the power to wield a lightsaber, which side are you on? Will you become a Sith Lord, or a Jedi?
