It was brewing in the rumour mill for quite some time, Sony Mobile started teasing about it starting from last week and if you’ve been waiting for it, say hello to the new Sony Xperia M5. Unlike previous Sony Xperia M-series smartphones, the device is now a “super mid-range” Android smartphone featuring a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 3GB RAM, water-resistant design and more.

The most notable feature on the Sony Xperia M5 is its new 21.5MP f/2.2 rear camera that “lets you snap extraordinary moments like a pro”. There’s a 5x Clear Image Zoom that lets you get close without losing quality, a 0.25-second Hybrid Autofocus, and the ability to capture 4K videos. To top it off, there is also a 13MP front-facing camera on board to help capture the perfect selfie.

The Xperia M5 features a 5” Full HD display on the front, and on the inside, there is a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core 2.0GHz processor on board paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage (up to 200GB via microSD card). The device has a 2,600mAh battery on board, but Sony boasts that it can last for 2 days – up to 63 hours of music play, 8 hours of Full HD video, and up to 12 hours of talk time.

Other specs include IP65/IP68 Waterproof and dust tight (capless), LTE connectivity, single/dual-SIM variants, NFC, and runs on Android 5.0 out of the box.
