Facebook Launches a Standalone Site for its Messenger

It looks like Facebook has got some really big plans for its Messenger service. Just 2 weeks ago, the company announced that its Messenger is now a platform, allowing users to install apps just for Facebook Messenger, and now, here’s another update – you can now access Facebook Messenger on a dedicated website at Messenger.com.

Messenger.com is just a standalone website for its chat service. Don’t worry though, you can still chat on the web on Facebook.com, but with a dedicated website for chatting, it allow users to focus more on the conversation rather than getting distracted by the News Feed.

Facebook Messenger looks like a full-screen version of its Messenger app for smartphones. You will still be able to do the usual things like chat, use stickers and send pictures with one another. Sadly though, you can’t install apps for it so all you Giphy lovers would still have to refer back to the Giphy for Messenger app on your phone.

Facebook Messenger

I guess this is just the beginning for Facebook Messenger on the web. Just last year, Facebook removed Messenger for Windows and from its main app. Now that it is a platform on its own, let’s see what the company has got up its sleeves for the future.
