If you’re still wondering why Facebook split up its Messenger service from its main app, here’s why. At the company’s F8 event, Mark Zuckerberg took the curtains off its Messenger Platform to give you a better experience on Facebook Messenger. You can now install apps on Messenger and soon, you might even be able to chat with businesses.
Love to share GIFs, photos, videos and such with your friends? There are now over 40 new apps made just for Facebook Messenger to enhance your conversations. Get various GIFs through multiple apps like GIFs, GIPHY, GIFjam and such, create your own emoji with Bitmoji, make collage with Pic Stitch, edit your pictures and so much more right on Facebook Messenger.
Just browse through the catalogue of apps, pick one to install, and Messenger will redirect you to the respective app store. You’ll need to download and install the apps onto your device. Once done, you can easily share new things with your friends with just several taps around the apps.
Facebook wants to make the experience as seamless as possible. When someone sends you a message on Messenger Platform app, you can easily install the same app by tapping on the “install” button located below the message. If you already have the app, you’ll see a “reply” button instead, whereby it’ll switch to the app so you can find the right response.
Messenger Platform is now live so check out your Facebook Messenger app, you should see a new menu that will show you a list of apps you can pick from.
As for Businesses on Messenger, Facebook wants to make it a whole lot easier for businesses and customers to connected. The tool will allow customers to receive updates from businesses like shipping status updates, or even be able to modify, track or return an order. People will also be able to ask questions, make requests, and receive quick responses.
Facebook is currently working with various business partners, and will share more about the service soon.
