U Mobile Samsung Galaxy A5

New postpaid plans weren’t the only things U Mobile introduced early this morning. The telco has also added two new devices to its postpaid plans – the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Oppo R5 to its device bundles, offering them from as low as RM0 and RM399 respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 has just arrived in Malaysia just weeks ago, but if you do not want to pay the full price of RM1,199, sign up for a contract with U Mobile and get it for free. Of course, a contract applies. If the Galaxy A5 isn’t your cup of tea, you can also get the Oppo R5 from the telco from as low as RM399 (retail price RM1,599) when you sign up for a contract under one of the telco’s postpaid plans.

Sadly though, if you were hoping to sign up for the new P50 and P70 postpaid plans, it looks like you can’t because U Mobile is only offering both devices under its U58, U88 and U Plus Plans:U Mobile Samsung Galaxy A5 and Oppo R5 Bundles

Upfront payment is required when you sign up for device bundles from U Mobile, but U Mobile is currently having an on-going Zero Upfront Payment promotion so if you qualify for it, the device price is all you need to pay for.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 is a mid-range smartphone from Samsung that features a more premium build compared to typical mid-range and low-end Android smartphones from the Korean company. It features a 5” 720p HD Super AMOLED display encased in a sleek and slim metal body.

On the insides, it is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU. There is 2GB of RAM to give it a rather snappy performance, and is coupled with 16GB of expandable storage on board. Other specs include a 13MP rear camera, 5MP camera, LTE connectivity, 2300mAh battery and runs on Android 4.4.4 out of the box. Check out our hands on post to find out more about the Samsung Galaxy A5.

The Oppo R5 is one of the slimmest Android smartphones in the market that measures at a mere 4.85mm thin. Don’t be deceived by its thinness though, while slim, it is as sturdy as ever, and can even be used to cut an apple.

The Oppo R5 features a 5.2” Full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 423ppi. On the insides, it is powered by a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage on board. Other specs include 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 2000mAh battery, LTE connectivity and runs on Android 4.4 out of the box. Check out our hands on post for more details about the Oppo R5.
