eSports Malaysia

In an effort to nurture and develop competitive gaming in Malaysia, a national governing body under the name of eSports Malaysia (eSM) will be launched very soon. Scheduled for launch next week, it is a registered sports body under the Malaysia Sports Commissioner Office which signals the ambition that it has for electronic sports in the country.

While details are rather scarce at the moment but from the media invite that we has received, we do know that eSM is led by Dato’ Latt Shariman Abdullah as its President and Rinie Ramli as its Secretary General. Dato’ Latt is currently the Special Functions Officer for PM Najib Razak while Rinie Ramli which is known in the local competitive gaming scene via his game nick, Si_Jali is one of the most decorated FIFA player in Malaysia.

The invite also listed down eSM’s additional objective which is shown in this image below:

The official launch of eSM is set to take place on 28 January at Dewan Perdana Felda in Kuala Lumpur whereby gamers are invited to witness the launch although they have to reserve their seats early on due to the venue’s limitation.
